At Bows for Strings, it is our aim to support and inspire all musicians, from daring beginners to accomplished professionals.

The Australian musical fraternity is made up of countless community and professional organisations, orchestras and playing groups that, together, raise the level of music across the country and provide musical pathways for aspiring young musicians.

It is our pleasure and privilege to partner with and support a number of wonderful musical organisations, programs and groups.

Below are a few of the fantastic organisations we support:

  • Sydney Art Quartet: The Sydney Art Quartet is a new generation of string quartet that combines the performance of traditional masterpieces with contemporary, multi-sensory storytelling and contrasting art forms. Since its foundation in 2015, the Quartet has created, produced and performed over 75 original shows, many in collaboration with Australia's most vibrant creative minds.

  • Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - The Pizzicato Effect: The Pizzicato Effect is the MSO’s flagship community music program. Proudly working in partnership with Meadows Primary School, Northpoint Church and Bows for Strings, the program provides free string instrumental and musicianship tuition twice weekly, to children living in the City of Hume.

  • Frankston Symphony Orchestra: The Frankston Symphony Orchestra forms a part of the Frankston Music Society, which also includes the Mornington Peninsula Chorale. The Frankston Music Society was founded in 1967 by the world renowned pianist Vera Bradford and fellow residents from the area.

  • Melbourne String Ensemble: Melbourne String Ensemble is a dynamic youth string orchestra that offers exciting performance opportunities. The Melbourne String Ensemble was founded in 1985 and has a proud history of promoting excellence in music performance. Students perform high quality and challenging repertoire and develop individually as musicians while learning sophisticated ensemble skills in a variety of ensemble settings.

  • Maroondah Symphony Orchestra: The Maroondah Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra founded in 1964 and based in Ringwood, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Orchestra presents four programs of classical music each year, usually at the George Wood Performing Arts Centre, in Ringwood.

  • Resonance String Orchestra: Resonance is a not-for-profit regional, community, multi-tiered string orchestra program open to young people and adults, from beginner to advanced musicians. Resonance String Orchestra rehearses weekly in Woodend on Monday evenings, within Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, and fortnightly in Castlemaine on Friday evenings.

  • Latrobe Orchestra: The Latrobe Orchestra was founded under the directorship of Kath Teychenne in 1974. Up until recently, two orchestras in the form of a junior orchrestra and a senior orchestra rehearsed on Thursday nights, called the Francis and Latrobe orchestras respectively. Today, the orchestra performs as one, and caters for beginner players and more accomplished musicians.

  • Whitehorse Orchestra: The Whitehorse Orchestra is a community orchestra, centred on the Box Hill area in Victoria, Australia, which rehearses on Saturday mornings throughout the year. It has over 80 playing members. The orchestra provides an excellent and enjoyable musical experience for musicians of all ages, and performs regularly in public.
