Come and join the Bows for Strings team!

We are looking for a passionate cellist to join our sales team at our Glen Waverley showroom (days negotiable).

The ideal candidate will be proficient at playing the cello, engage easily with people and be eager to share their passion for music with others. They will be able to handle multiple tasks, possess a strong work ethic, and be a quick learner with a can-do attitude.

This is the perfect role for someone studying music at university who is looking to make it their career and wants practical experience in an established musical business.

Job responsibilities: 

The role supports Bows for Strings customers on their musical journey by providing a high level of customer service, education and sales assistance. The Casual Sales Assistant is responsible for intimately knowing the Bows for Strings range and educating customers at every step of their musical journey, be it daring beginners, right through to experienced players looking for their forever instrument. 

Tasks of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Sales assistance in the showroom providing education and sales support
  • Making every customer feel welcome and at home in Bows for Strings
  • Demonstrating our range of instruments to customers (often families)
  • Inventory management and assisting with stocktaking 
  • Pricing and sorting of new stock
  • Packing of online orders ready for collection/delivery
  • Assisting with instrument maintenance including string changes and instrument cleaning

Candidate requirements:

The ideal candidate will be excited to share their passion for music with others, and will posses the following characteristics/qualifications:

  • Passionate about music and helping others on their musical journey
  • Play the cello at an 8th grade level or higher 
  • Previous sales/retail experience not essential but preferred
  • Possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work on weekdays and weekends (exact days/hours to be worked out with the successful candidate)
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritise what needs to be done
  • Proficient technology skills (Microsoft Office, etc)
  • Comfortable providing customer service in person or over the phone
