Music Theory for Violinists - Book 2
Music Theory For Young Violinists & Music Theory for Violinists are theory series aiming to teach the fundamentals of theory for violin by introducing topics that are more related to the instrument in the first 3 books and the other parts of syllabus in the 4th book. Upon completion of the four level music theory series, violin learners will have gained a strong foundation before moving to Grade 1 Music Theory. Bass clef is not included to avoid confusion at this stage and this will be introduced later in Music Theory for Violinists Book 4. Notes on the treble clef are arranged in a way that teachers can choose to start teaching the notes by strings, or by fingers (from open string, 1st finger, 2nd finger followed by 3rd finger.) Dynamics, Tempo, bowing symbols are introduced early to improve ensemble & orchestral experience. The concept of key signatures in relation to fingering positions is introduced. This is helpful in preparing students for ABRSM sight-reading tests up to the level of Grade 2. Musical terms including Col Legno, Con Sord, Harmonics, Portamento etc. are brought forward from ABRSM Grade 4 Theory syllabus and included here as they are relevant to violin players. Instead of the keyboard, the violin fingerboard will be used as references for accidentals learning. Violin fingerboard will also be used as references in introducing tone-semitone relationship as students are more familiar with the geographical locations of the notes on the violin fingerboard. Works best together with practical violin book such as Eta Cohen Violin Method Book 1, Fiddle Time Joggers, Violin Star 1, A Tune A Day Book 1, Strictly Strings Book 1 or other equivalent books. Upon completion of book 4, students will be ready for a smooth progression to Grade 1 Music Theory!

Want to get your order as fast as possible? We also offer an express post option which you can select at checkout. Items are sent via Australia Post Express and typically arrive in 1-2 days after your order has been fulfilled.
Larger items such as cellos and large cases require extra care and incur a separate handling and delivery fee of $99. Double Basses sized 1/4 also incur a separate fee of $145, and 1/2 and 3/4 Double Basses a fee of $225. These items are not applicable for free shipping. When ordering larger items to remote locations, or when ordering multiple larger items, there may be an additional delivery cost involved.

Bows for Strings offers the option to 'click and collect' your order at our Glen Waverley showroom. Click and collect items are typically ready within 1 business day (instruments require professional set-up and are typically ready within 3 weeks currently due to back to school demand). We are pleased to offer international shipping to New Zealand! Shipping is currently available for violins, violas, strings and accessories - stay tuned for cellos and double basses. Shipping costs are based on weight and are calculated at checkout - smaller items such as strings or books cost $20, larger items such as a violin or viola cost $35. If you would like a heavier item (cello, double bass, etc) shipped to New Zealand, please contact us for a quote. Delivery typically takes 7-10 days, and fulfilment times are the same as listed above.
