From the golden age of French violin making: a 1912 Charles Collin-Mezin fils violin.
Our latest antique violin is this beautiful French violin made by Charles Collin-Mezin fils in Paris in 1912.

The Collin-Mezin family is one of the most respected names in French violin making. Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin-Mezin (1841–1923), the father, trained in Mirecourt and established his Parisian workshop in 1868, quickly gaining a reputation for fine craftsmanship and tonal quality. He won several medals at international exhibitions, and his instruments were sought after by professional musicians across Europe.
His son, Charles Collin-Mezin fils (1870–1934), carried on the family tradition, building instruments of equal refinement and continuing the Paris workshop’s legacy into the early 20th century. This violin is a fine example of his artistry and the enduring Collin-Mezin legacy.
Together, the Collin-Mezins bridged the 19th- and 20th-century French schools of violin making, blending Mirecourt precision with Parisian artistry. Violins from this family are prized today for their rich, powerful sound and elegant workmanship, a true testament to over a century of French luthiery excellence.
