Piero Virdis is a master violin maker from the beautiful area of Pattada, Italy, which is located on the famous island of Sardinia. Pattada is well known for its production of Sardinian knives, called resolzas, and hosts many local knife shops and makers. Less known is that it is home of a master violin maker.

Piero Virdis learned his craft under master luthier Francesco Bissolotti from Cremona, with whom he completed an apprenticeship with. This working relationship with Bissolotti has continued and has allowed Virdis to gain valuable knowledge of the "Classical Cremonese construction method”. He has taken these skills to his island workshop and we are pleased to have just received another of his wonderful violins.

The striking varnish of Piero Virdis makes his instruments stand out in our showroom. Our latest violin from Virdis is a fine example of the master luthier’s work and was made in his workshop in Pattada, Italy in 2023.
